Foresight Awarded Contract To Deliver Vancouver Economic Commission’s Tech Deployment Network

Announcement
September 12, 2019

Vancouver, CANADA – Foresight Cleantech Accelerator Centre today announced it has been awarded the contract to help develop and support the Vancouver Economic Commission’s Tech Deployment Network (TDN) through Foresight’s Cleantech Business Accelerator programs and services.

Founded by the Vancouver Economic Commission (VEC), the Tech Deployment Network (TDN) is a membership-based network comprised of major asset owners in Metro Vancouver – including Translink, Fortis, New Westminster, the City of Vancouver, and other building, infrastructure and fleet owners – who have committed to offering access to their networks and resources as demonstration sites for new smart city and cleantech solutions. This will help accelerate the adoption of emerging technologies across a variety of asset areas. TDN’s objective is to ease the commercialization pathway for innovators by facilitating greater access to institutional partnership and pilot opportunities, leading to more job creation, new investment, and a stronger technology ecosystem.

“VEC’s Tech Deployment Network is a world-leading example of their innovative and action-oriented approach to making this region the epicentre of Canada’s green economy,” says Foresight CEO Jeanette Jackson. “We’re delighted to bring our expertise in ecosystem building that connects cleantech entrepreneurs and industry needs to this project.”

By facilitating access to these public assets for emerging cleantech innovators for commercialization and testing of their solutions, the Tech Deployment Network is poised to make a significant contribution to the cleantech economy by improving time to market and validation of green technologies.

“With Vancouver’s bench strength in innovative cleantech, our businesses play a critical role in addressing the global climate emergency,” says VEC CEO Catherine Warren. “Our Tech Deployment Network unleashes the chance for startups to work with keystone institutions on vital climate solutions. Partnering with Foresight means more focused support for local innovators engaged in building a resilient economy.”
