Foresight is building new partnerships between cleantech innovators and leading technology companies by launching a new innovation platform.

Vancouver, CANADA – January 6, 2021 — Foresight Cleantech Accelerator Centre announced today the launch of the Purposeful Partnerships program  - a leading innovation platform designed to drive deal-flow through industry challenges, acceleration programs, and ecosystem engagement. The platform will expand Foresight’s ongoing activities in working with industry to source innovation, facilitate collaboration, and drive change.

There is an urgent and well-known need to scale innovation in Canada in order to meet our climate goals and transition to a clean energy future. This program challenges the business-as-usual approach to innovation and builds much-needed bridges between industry, entrepreneurs and Foresight’s growing ecosystem of Canadian cleantech innovators and leaders” said Jeanette Jackson, CEO, Foresight.

Scaling Innovation: A Comprehensive Approach

The Purposeful Partnerships program embeds leading companies into the innovation process at an earlier stage, and is designed to deliver faster, better integrated innovations that are more likely to commercialize. The program offers an opportunity for industry to:

  • Influence the clean technology market through early engagement with cleantech entrepreneurs in Foresight’s accelerator programs
  • Source innovation and signal the market using Foresight’s independent platform and structured innovation and challenge processes
  • Build an innovation culture that is customized to their unique needs while tapping into the excitement, creativity and ideas of an ecosystem of cleantech innovators across Canada, and through connection into Foresight’s network of globally connected cleantech clusters

Embedding industry earlier in the commercialization process leads to better overall outcomes. It not only brings much-needed low-carbon solutions to market quicker, it also drives deal flow, attracts investment and helps maintain Canada’s position as a leader in the rapidly growing, global cleantech industry” said Jacob Malthouse, VP Business Development at Foresight.

The Purposeful Partnerships program is supported by a dedicated team of 15 staff and a network of over 500 cleantech companies, and delivers comprehensive innovation acceleration programs for less than half the cost of a single full time employee.
