February 12, 2025 | Aurora, Ontario — Foresight Canada has partnered with Magna International, a leading global automotive components manufacturer, to launch the Magna International Facility Emissions Challenge with the goal of finding innovative solutions to reduce facility greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while maintaining operational reliability and comfort. Potential solutions may include energy recovery systems, alternative fuels, efficient ventilation designs, or heat pumps—all aimed at enhancing efficiency without compromising production quality.
Heavy industry, including auto manufacturing, is one of Canada’s highest-emitting sectors, accounting for approximately 12% of the nation’s total GHG emissions in 2021. However, this sector also presents a significant opportunity for transformation. With innovative solutions and bold collaborations, the sector can significantly reduce its carbon footprint while driving economic growth and technological advancement. By embracing cleaner energy sources, optimizing processes, and leveraging cutting-edge technologies, heavy industry has the potential to lead Canada’s transition to a low-carbon economy and inspire global change.
This Innovation Challenge offers innovators an exclusive opportunity to showcase their cutting-edge solutions to a global industry leader. Finalists will pitch directly to Magna’s team, gaining unparalleled exposure and industry insights. The winner will pilot their technology within a Magna facility, with the potential for broader implementation across its global network.
This Challenge is more than just a competition—it’s a catalyst for collaboration, commercialization, and cleantech adoption. Apply now.
