Outlining the Path to 2030-2050 Sustainability Targets in BC's Forest Sector
British Columbia’s forests are a defining feature of the province, historically, culturally, and economically. Two-thirds of BC’s land base is covered in trees and the province has the one of highest proportions of land covered with forests (57%) in the world.
Another defining feature of BC is the provincial government’s commitment to transition to a low carbon economy through its progressive CleanBC program that has set province-wide GHG emissions reduction targets of 40%, 60% and 80% for 2030, 2040, and 2050.
This report outlines a range of sustainability-related certification programs, policies and strategy papers that are driving decision-making in BC's forestry sector on the path to 2030-2050 sustainability targets.
