Innovators in Foresight’s Earth Tech Program Represent the Next Generation of Mitigation and Adaptation Solutions
From clean energy storage and sustainable materials to advanced flood prediction and ecosystem restoration, Foresight’s Earth Tech ventures are delivering the technologies that will power, protect, and future-proof our planet. Together, they represent Canada’s most ambitious response to the climate challenge—tackling both the urgent need to reduce and remove emissions and adapt to the impacts already unfolding.
Delivered by Foresight Canada in partnership with Social Innovation Canada, Earth Tech is a nine-month impact accelerator that equips climate innovators with the mentorship, technical expertise, and capital connections to scale breakthrough solutions. The program’s dual streams are united purpose-driven ventures building a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable future for all:
Earth Tech: 2050: Accelerates high-impact climate tech ventures that can reduce or remove significant CO₂e emissions at scale.
Earth Tech: Adapt: Accelerates ventures with solutions designed to help mitigate the effects of rising temperatures and sea levels, extreme weather, and shifting ecosystems.
Meet the innovators in our latest cohorts and learn more about their innovative solutions below.
Earth Tech: 2050 is Turning Climate Ambition into Climate Action
Technologies enabling the reliable, renewable, and efficient flow of clean energy across industries and regions:
- Grengine delivers modular, plug-and-play battery systems that replace diesel generators in off-grid and extreme environments, providing clean, silent, and cyber-secure power built entirely in Canada.
- Aqua-Cell Energy develops long-duration saltwater batteries that strengthen the grid, enable 24/7 renewable power, and reduce the need for costly new infrastructure.
- FeX Energy can store renewable energy for up to years using an iron-powered reactor that provides high-temperature heat for industrial decarbonization and long-term energy resilience.
- Wafr reimagines data centre cooling with a passive, water-free thermal system that cuts energy use and emissions, making digital infrastructure vastly more efficient.
Innovators reinventing critical material extraction and recovery for a low-carbon economy:
- Tersa Earth converts hazardous mine waste into valuable materials using carbon-neutral biotechnology—eliminating Acid Rock Drainage while recovering critical metals.
- Brokkr extracts nickel, cobalt, and manganese through bioleaching, replacing acid leaching and smelting to reduce emissions, waste, and costs, compared to leading incumbents.
- Litus uses nanomaterials to extract lithium from low-concentration brines efficiently, reducing water and energy use while supporting electrification at scale.
- Green Graphite Technologies produces ultra-pure graphite from mined and recycled sources using a low-emission, continuous process that slashes energy, water, and reagent use.
Solutions building circular, low-emission supply chains across industries:
- Sustaero creates Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) from Canadian forestry byproducts, helping meet global demand for clean aviation while revitalizing local mill communities.
- Sixone enables chemical recycling of blended plastics, producing high-quality, cost-competitive polymers that ensure plastics can be continuously reused in textiles and manufacturing.
Earth Tech: Adapt is Building a Climate-Ready Future
Companies using data-driven intelligence to anticipate, assess, and mitigate the impacts of extreme weather:
- Geosapiens provides high-resolution flood risk data to help insurers and policymakers anticipate and reduce damage before disasters strike.
- Foundry Spatial delivers hyper-local flood forecasts up to seven days in advance, helping infrastructure owners protect assets, including pipelines, roads, and utilities.
- Resiliō quantifies financial risk from climate hazards, helping investors and asset owners prioritize adaptation investments with the highest returns.
Ventures using AI and sensors to predict, prevent, and mitigate wildfire risks:
- CRWN.ai uses advanced sensors to detect electrical discharges on transmission lines, preventing failures and wildfires through real-time, predictive monitoring.
- Bayes Studio combines autonomous drones and AI-powered towers to detect and predict wildfires early, preventing megafires and protecting communities at a fraction of current costs.
Solutions innovating nature-powered technologies for ecosystem restoration and resilience:
- eOceans transforms fragmented ocean and environmental data into actionable insight—helping practitioners identify restoration opportunities and track ecosystem recovery in real time.
- Sporalis uses fungi-based bioremediation to naturally clean contaminated soil and water, restoring ecosystems without the need for carbon-intensive excavation.
Solutions using smart technology for water purification, conservation, and resilience:
- Xatoms leverages AI and quantum chemistry to create photocatalysts that purify water from pollutants, heavy metals, and pathogens using sunlight or LED light.
- Orca Water uses ultrasonic sensors to monitor water flow and detect leaks instantly, empowering users to conserve water, cut costs, and prevent damage.
Innovation Today, Resilience Tomorrow
These ventures remind us that climate innovation is not a distant vision—it’s already happening, here and now, across Canada.
Climate action means supporting technologies that are not only mitigating the future effects of climate change, but helping us adapt to the effects we already experience in our daily lives. We must support both plan A and plan B. Earth Tech strengthens these efforts, providing companies with the resources they need to do what they do best: solving our planet’s most pressing challenges.
These innovators are restoring ecosystems, protecting communities, decarbonizing industries, and reshaping global supply chains—demonstrating that climate action and economic opportunity go hand in hand. Their progress proves what’s possible when visionary entrepreneurs, funders, and industry leaders work together toward a shared goal: a resilient, prosperous future where both people and the planet thrive.
